SkyWorld and Universiti Malaya Unveil Collaboration to Spur Technological Innovation in Property Development

City developer SkyWorld Development Berhad (“SkyWorld” or the “Company”) has entered into a groundbreaking collaboration with Universiti Malaya (“UM”), Malaysia’s premier institution for higher learning, to join forces in developing a transformative Application Programming Interface (“API”) set to revolutionise data integration ecosystem within the property development sector.

The Memorandum of Agreement (“MoA”) signed at The Cubes in Universiti Malaya, solidifies their shared commitment to co-develop a cutting-edge technology ecosystem, specifically focusing on API development, data warehousing, data mining, and an advanced data analyst system integrated with machine learning.

According to Lee Chee Seng, Chief Executive Officer of SkyWorld Development Berhad, “The envisaged API marks a significant leap in our technological capabilities. It empowers us to seamlessly integrate data across platforms, providing a holistic view of customer integrations and unlocking new realms of operational efficiency.”

“The MoA signing marks a pivotal milestone towards technological transformation. We are excited to work hand in hand with Universiti Malaya to create a technology ecosystem that propels us into a new era of innovation in property development.”

Lee adds, “By leveraging the expertise of Universiti Malaya’s Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, the collaboration seeks to create a robust infrastructure capable of efficiently managing vast amounts of data, uncovering valuable insights from complex datasets through automated analytical processes, and driving strategic and informed decision-making within SkyWorld.”

According to Prof. Dr. Loo Chu Kiong, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology of Universiti Malaya, this partnership will offer exceptional opportunities for UM’s students and faculty to apply cutting-edge research in real-world scenarios. This aligns with UM’s mission to cultivate future leaders and innovators, further contributing to the nation’s intellectual and technological prowess.

Prof. Dr. Loo adds, “At Universiti Malaya, we have always strived to be at the forefront of innovation and excellence. We stand on the brink of a transformative collaboration with SkyWorld that transcends national boundaries, placing Malaysia on the global map as a hub for technological innovation in property market analytics. The MoA we sign today with SkyWorld is not just a formal partnership, it is a testament to our shared vision of creating impactful solutions.”

“We are proud to embark on this pioneering journey with SkyWorld to set a new benchmark in industry-academia partnerships. This collaboration reflects our commitment to nurturing innovation and fostering collaborative initiatives that have a meaningful impact on both our students and the industry at large,” Prof. Dr. Loo concludes.

The memorandum outlines a 2-year collaboration between the two parties from the first quarter of 2024 to the fourth quarter of 2025, underscoring SkyWorld’s dedication to quality and innovation, reinforced by UM’s cutting-edge technological research in line with their tagline, “Serving the Nation, Impacting the World”.
